Candy Bar Cake Instructions
Candy Bar Cakes Instructions:
These are instructions for
building a three layer candy cake. I hope they help, of course there are many ways to do it I just wanted to give you guys a good place to start.
Supplies needed:
1 – 10” cardboard cake
round (sold in any craft store or cake store.
2 – 8” x 1” Styrofoam circles
2 – 6” x 1" Styrofoam circles
2 – 4” x 1" Styrofoam circles
Wrapper Templates
Hershey's Mini Candies (4” layer 12, 6” layer 19, 8" layer 26, 10" layer 33)
Foam Covering
Adhesive (glue dots, two sided tape or glue gun)
Decorations (other candies, cake topper, ribbon, theme favors)
Note:
I put my logo and business info on the inside of each wrapper I just ran them
through the printer twice.
- Print and put
together your mini’s make sure that you tightly apply the wrappers to each mini
so that when you put it on the cake the mini’s do not
slip out of the wrappers.
-
Cover your Styrofoam. I
went ahead and wrapped mine with Christmas paper and used the circles for the
tops. The next ones I do I am going to just wrap the complete layer with
wrapping paper. If you want to save on costs you can just use the circles I
have enclosed for the tops. I found the two-sided tape or glue dots worked good for this
step.
(do not glue the Styrofoam layers together it
is easier to add the mini’s to each layer individually)
- Lay out your design with your mini’s before you start
putting them on the cake layers this way you can move them around and change
them before they are stuck to the layers.
- I started with the 4” layer and started glueing
my mini’s to this. I placed them on the top of the Styrofoam
layer which leaves a little space towards the bottom don’t worry about this as
it will be covered with our ribbon and other decorations. I started with the
left side of my wrappers and worked my way around. I found this to work the
best as I had a little bit of a gap which I was able to space the last few
wrappers out a bit as to hide the gap (I also used some ribbon and things to
hide it more)
Again I found that using glue dots worked well and I also
was able to use the hot glue gun but I would put the dot of glue on the Styrofoam
and then place my mini on top of that to be sure that the candy did not melt in
any way and could still be eaten and sold.
(sorry camera does not like me).
I adhered all the mini’s to
each layer.
- Once you have applied all
your mini’s to the layers and they have dried it is
time to build the cake.
- Now I put the 8” layer on top of the 10” card board cake
circle. (I still have not glued it)
- Then put the 6” layer on top
of that.
- Now add your 4” layer.
I
played with mine until I got it placed exactly the way I wanted it and made
sure the letters and words where aligned properly. Now I went ahead and used my
hot glue gun to glue the layers down.
- Now we will begin to add
decorations and hide any foam that is showing. On mine you can see around the
tops of each layer I added a colored cord. Choosea
topper and glue or adhere to the top. Depending on the topper, you can
glue or use a skewer, we also added a few Santa Candies to ours to make it look
festive.
- Then we used the ribbon
around the different layers to fill in gaps and make the cake look festive. I
found some small ornaments at Walmart that we added
along with the
mini bows.
Your not limited here you
can do anything to decorate your cake that is what is so much fun about this
project your only limited by your imagination.
The same concepts apply if you are building a 2 layer or a 10 layer
- Here’s the finished
cake.....
